If you’re on twitter, you have no doubt noticed people have started using their twitter profile and their avatar to make a statement, whether it is with a colored overlay, or a small symbol placed over their actual avatar image.
The weekend started with some fun with Scott Hanselman’s avatar. Later, when I saw #twibbon listed as one of the active trends on twitter, I first thought, great, yet another piece of new twitter vocabulary, but then checked it out. Twibbon (built on the Microsoft stack) allows you to start something, or promote your cause, by registering an overlay of your choice, and publishing it so can gather others on twitter to show some support with their own avatars and spread the word. So I decided to have some fun with my avatar as well.
I started the Silverlight Light up the Web cause - I hope you join in the fun. Its a bit of an experiment. Let’s see how many folks join in on this by placing the Silverlight nebula over their image (like the one shown on the right).
And of course, here is a link to my own twitter profile. You can follow me if you like for quick 140-character style updates and conversations. If you’re new to twitter, I’d recommend checking Hanselman’s post on using twitter.
Update: If there are enough folks who add this, there will be a deep zoom collage... like this one.
