Web Forms talks and conferences

Information on upcoming talks and conferences where I'll be speaking... plus some content from a previous talk.
May is turning out to be quite a busy month...

We're holding dev labs at campus later this week for our v-next features where I'll be presenting along with other coworkers (topics: data, control designers etc. etc.)

But for today, I need to focus on getting my TechEd slides ready for review tomorrow. I'll be giving a couple of talks at TechEd in Dallas this year. Both of them are on my favorite subject - server controls. The first will be an intro talk where I'll present basic server control authoring concepts - such as properties, view state, events, client script, and composition. I'm still debating on the specifics of the second talk at the moment. There’s just so much to talk about. I'll probably cover some of the more complex topics such as templates and data-binding and then delve into writing designers.

In the meantime, I thought I should share out the material from a talk I gave in January. Slides and code are available. The slides cover the entire ASP.NET lifecycle (HTTP pipeline, page compilation, and control lifecycle). There’s some demo pages included that demonstrate techniques like dynamically added controls, and data-bound controls without view state based on how state management plays into this lifecycle. Hope this is useful. I'll be covering more of these sorts of topics here in greater detail, so stay tuned... ;-)

Now back to slides and code...

Updated: Added separate links for the slides and code for easier viewing.
